Privacy policy
ClearLane (“we”, “us”) is run by Tom Rowley in Canterbury, New Zealand. We collect and use personal information in line with the Privacy Act 2020. You can contact us about privacy at hello@clearlane.co.nz.
What we collect
- Contact details you give us on a quote request: name, email, phone number and business name.
- Shipment details: goods, quantities, prices, ports, delivery address or town, dates and any comments.
- Documents and photos you choose to upload, such as a commercial invoice or photos of your goods.
- Estimate results that the calculator produced for you.
- Usage data about how the website is used (pages visited, device type and approximate location) if analytics is switched on, collected through Google Analytics using cookies.
Why we collect it
To prepare your estimate, to pass your request to a freight forwarder or customs broker so they can send you a firm quote, to contact you about it, and to understand and improve the website. We do not sell personal information.
Who we share it with
- Freight forwarding and customs broker partners in New Zealand, who need your shipment and contact details to quote and clear your goods.
- Service providers that run the website: Cloudflare (hosting, database and storage) and Anthropic, whose AI service reads an invoice or listing you upload so we can fill in the form. Anthropic processes that content to provide the service.
- Google, for website analytics.
Some of these providers store or process information outside New Zealand, including in the United States. We use providers that apply reasonable security and contractual protections.
How long we keep it
We keep quote requests and any attached documents for as long as needed to deal with your request, and aim to delete them within two years afterwards. Analytics data is kept according to Google’s settings for our account.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing hello@clearlane.co.nz. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
Cookies
The site itself works without cookies. If analytics is switched on, Google Analytics sets cookies to count visits and see which pages are useful. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google’s opt-out add-on.
Changes
We will update this page when our practices change and show the date above.
